Water Station Project

One of the first projects of the STHRC was to begin to build water stations in the desert area of Brooks County and the surrounding counties to prevent the death of those walking through the area. Today we have 90 stations established covering an area of about 1200 sq. miles. We only install water stations using specific guidelines.

During the busiest spring and summer months, each water station is checked weekly. This means driving the routes and approaching the barrels which are located along roadways, near fences, and sometimes within some level of brush or irregular terrain.

*Currently we have 144 stations that we service each and every week*
